Wayfarers of the South Tigris

Wayfarers of the South Tigris is an engaging strategy board game set during the height of the Abbasid Caliphate, around 820 AD. Players take on the roles of brave explorers, cartographers, and astronomers, setting out from Baghdad to map the surrounding lands, waterways, and skies. Careful management of your caravan, workers, and equipment is essential, while discoveries must be regularly reported to the House of Wisdom. Will you impress the Caliph, or become lost in the desert?

The game offers a challenging dice-placement experience in which players expand their personal maps, unlocking new actions and abilities along the way. Victory points are earned mainly by mapping land, water, and sky, upgrading your caravan, gaining inspiration from nobles, and building influence within the three guilds: science, trade, and exploration. The game ends when a player’s marker reaches the final column of the journal track.
